There are always multiple projects in development in the Wang Lab. We are always open to a variety of scientific perspectives and backgrounds, and we likely have an area of research that could suit your interests.

Recent research efforts have been centered around medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, but we have ongoing projects in synthetic chemistry methodology development, as well as chemical biology, where we use cell imaging and other biological tools to manipulate cellular function.

The following are some of the principal projects in the lab, see Recent Publications

Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery

Dual targeting anticancer drugs

Bioorthogonal PROTAC Prodrugs

High throughput screening, rational drug design, hit optimization and structureactivity relationship (SAR) studies in cancer, aging, pain, and anti-viral
‘Privileged’ structures directed organocatalytic cascade diversity, complexity synthesis, and chemical library synthesis o Targeted protein degradation drug discovery and delivery

Chemical Biology

Bioorthogonal and bioconjugation chemistry for protein labeling and imaging, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), drug activation and delivery.
Molecular glues and metabolic engineering strategies to spatiotemporally manipulate cellular functions and new gene/cell therapies
Fluorescence and multi-modular imaging and theranostic probes

New Synthetic Methodology Development

Organocatalytic Cascade Reactions

Organophotoredox Catalysis and Synthesis

Organocatalyzed Deuteration Reactions

Diversity Oriented Synthesis
