Dr. Wang's research encompasses a multi-disciplinary drug discovery effort, utilizing organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry to synthesize new small molecules, as well as various biological techniques to analyze the efficacy of our drugs, including molecular imaging and recognition, Western blots, flow cytometry, and animal modeling.

Dr. Wang was acknowledged in the World's Top 2% of scientists by Stanford University in 2023. He currently has an H-index of 86, and he is an author or co-author of more than 340 original research papers. He has graduated 18 PhD students and 9 M.S. students, and mentored 34 postdocs. He is active in the academic community; contributing to 18 books/book chapters, and presenting at hundreds of invited talks. He has 9 scientific patents and is a peer-reviewer for more than 60 national and international journals.​​​
